To succeed in the CollegePlus! program, enrolled students need to invest at least 20 hours a week from the outset of their degree process and more time than that as they move into later phases of their coursework. Many hit the books diligently while working full or part time jobs in addition to keeping up with ministry pursuits and family responsibilities. They're highly motivated individuals who are making the most of their time in every aspect of life.
Not so for the typical college student, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS "American Time Use" study found that full time college students spend an average of 3.2 hours each weekday in educational activities. And this average even includes classroom lectures! At the bare minimum, a full course load will include 4 hours of lectures each week. This leaves a mere 12 hours of independent study each week.
Education revolutionary Charles Murray, whom we recently blogged about puts the shocking number at 14 hours of independent study but his estimate is based on students' self-reporting, thus potentially skewing the actual number, he writes. Incidentally, the BLS study found that students play sports three and a half hours longer each week than they do studying.
So how are CollegePlus! students rewarded for all their hard work? A fully accredited bachelor's degree for a fraction of the cost and time of their post-secondary peers. This is just one reason why CollegePlus! is revolutionizing higher education one student at a time!

Kevin Swanson, our friend at Generations Radio, recently interviewed Brad Voeller, co-founder and CEO of CollegePlus!
In the interview entitled An Internal Renewal of the Faith, Brad shares details on his pioneering effort to bring homeschooling to South Korea. Kevin describes the interview on the Generations website as a testimony to the burgeoning home discipleship movement taking South Korea by storm.
Brad also offers details on Homeschool Friend, the incredible opportunity for all homeschooling young people to teach English to eager South Korean believers from the comfort of their own homes in US.

Charles Murray has been known for decades as an education revolutionary. In a recent op-ed column in the Wall Street Journal, Murray focuses his groundbreaking practicality on higher education. In a nutshell, he wants to see the system revamped.
The CollegePlus! approach to college education parallels several of Murray's points. His complaint with higher education is that the piece of paper which a student takes into the workforce doesn't guarantee that he or she is really a good fit for the job. Murray then highlights the CPA exam as a positive means that employers can actually use to judge an applicant's ability to succeed in the accounting field.
Since CollegePlus! students primarily complete their education through credit by exam as they take a variety of tests to gain college credit, Murray's education revolution is already gaining momentum among the CollegePlus! ranks.
While Murray titled his opinion piece "For Most Students College Is a Waste of Time," nothing could be further from the truth for CollegePlus! students. Since many CollegePlus! students complete their bachelor's degrees during or shortly after high school, they haven't wasted any time in gaining valuable knowledge and thinking skills before they are ready for the workforce.
Furthermore, CollegePlus! students don't need to delay gaining hands on experience until their mid-twenties, like most college students do. By graduating at age 18 or 19, they can take time to participate in internships and discover the work they love.
Dr. Murray writes that "finding a better way should be easy." It is, Dr. Murray. It's called CollegePlus!

The beauty of distance learning is that students can complete their college studies at their own pace, focusing on worthwhile pursuits, like entrepreneurism in addition to finishing their degrees.
A recent article from US News and World Report gives budding entrepreneurs practical ideas and statistics on entrepreneurship in the United States. While some non-college grads like Bill Gates have made it big in the business world, they are the exception, according to the piece.
While the article suggests that some future business leaders may do well to forgo college, none of them even mention the idea of skipping high school. The exciting thing these days is that students can get the best of both worlds with CollegePlus!
Although it may seem radical to combine high school and college, high school is actually a recent educational construct. America's leaders from past centuries typically graduated from college in their teens because high school didn't even exist in their day. That's why hundreds of students are jumpstarting their education with CollegePlus! by combining their high school and college studies. Who knows, distance learning my be grooming the next George Washington, James Madison, or Thomas Jefferson.

Earlier in July, CollegePlus! Vice President Woody Robertson was invited to speak on Generations, a live radio talk show with Kevin Swanson, Executive Director of Christian Home Educators of Colorado.
Woody and Kevin discussed the revolutionary education style that America's Founding Fathers used to prepare themselves to establish the United States on timeless biblical principles. CollegePlus! is actively promoting this hands on, leadership-oriented education philosophy that is radically different from the modern grade-segregated school system prevalent for the past several decades in the US. Yet the leadership model of education that CollegePlus! is spreading the word about has proven its effectiveness in the multitude of leaders, past and present, who have used it to change the world.
