Alan Melton, a CollegePlus! grad, writer, and ministry leader in South Carolina, is about to publish Disciple Like Jesus For Parents, a book that challenges believers to train up the next generation of leaders like Jesus did.
Citing the Barna statistic that as much as 88% of church going youth leave the faith during college, Melton says, "We believe that the root cause is a faulty discipleship process that has been used by most Christian parents for decades."
He also notes that other statistics show that children receive less than five hours of biblical training each week.
Melton is challenging parents to pattern their discipleship after that of Jesus. "Although no parent can measure up to the perfection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, every parent can make better choices to train His children according to Jesus’ pattern with His disciples," Melton says.
Through the book and speaking engagements around the country, Melton is encouraging parents and helping them develop a Christ-like model for discipling their children.
Check out the upcoming book and ministry Disciple Like Jesus today to impact your children so they can help transform the world around them!
I am eager to see if Alan Melton will address the issue of public education. It is no wonder that 88 percent of church-going youth leave the faith when through the majority of their childhood they have been trained in the enemies schools.
It would be great if he would bring this issue up as a widespread sin in evangelicalism today, coupled with a call to train a child up in the way he should go. Only then will our children not depart from the faith.
