CLEP More Popular Than Ever Among College Students
America is in a college crisis and a growing number of Americans are doing something about it. In an effort to cut college costs, college students are taking their education into their own hands by choosing credit by exam options like CLEP and DSST over traditional classroom courses.
According to Prometric, the company that administers DSST exams, the number of exams taken over the past several years has grown by nearly 10%. CLEP exams have also seen growth and between the two sets of exams, hundreds of thousands of the tests are taken every year.
This growing popularity is impressive considering the little advertising Prometric and the College Board do to push students to take DSST and CLEP exams. However, at $80 and $72 a piece, respectively, there's no better option to save big on college tuition.
Additionally, the exams fit within a wide variety of college majors so students in just about an degree track can benefit from credit by exam alternatives to in-class coursework.
