Augusta, Ga., - Jennifer Keeton just wants to help others while maintaining her Christian faith. But the student at Augusta State University's counselor-education program has been given an ultimatum by the school: change your beliefs on homosexuality or face expulsion. Allegations have been brought against Ms. Keeton saying that she has advocated "conversion therapy" for homosexual students in private conversations with other students. Ms. Keeton denied the allegations.
Ms. Keeton is fighting back and filed a lawsuit, charging that faculty members and administrators have violated her First Amendment rights to free speech and free exercise of religion. She is being represented by lawyers from the Alliance Defense Fund, a coalition of Christian lawyers.

However, we do not believe that any university has the right to require students change their religious beliefs in the name of "tolerance." We support Ms. Keeton's desire to stay true to her Christian faith while pursuing her passion of serving others.
