“I am graduating. I should look at this as a positive experience, especially being at the top of my class. However, in retrospect, I cannot say that I am any more intelligent than my peers. I can attest that I am only the best at doing what I am told and working the system. Yet, here I stand, and I am supposed to be proud that I have completed this period of indoctrination.” - Erica Goldston
When Erica Goldston gave her high school valedictorian speech on June 25th, people were shocked at the words that came out her mouth. Instead of going the traditional route and reminiscing fondly over her four years at Coxsackie-Athens High School in New York, she took the opportunity to give her real opinion on the state of American education. She wasn't happy with it and she let everyone know.

“School is not all that it can be. Right now, it is a place for most people to determine that their goal is to get out as soon as possible."
Erica's bold speech highlights many of the problems with the current model of the education system. But there's no reason for her to accept the status quo. CollegePlus! was developed to help students learn in college and get more than just a piece of paper. By navigating around the traditional brick-and-mortar model, student are able to learn what they need to succeed instead of be "indoctrinated" like Erica says she was. CollegePlus! has reached out to Erica to offer her a scholarship to do college without compromise. At time of publication, Erica has not responded.

Well said, Erica. People need to see what they are being trained not to see--that Erica got it right. It is admirable of her to speak out and say the things that so many people are afraid to say. I hope that her future will be free from indoctrination and full of the power of God.
I'm glad you shared this, Caitlin!
