Making a Difference...One Box at a Time

It’s just a box filled with things that many of us take for granted. You know, items like a tooth brush, a cap, a t-shirt, candy and a few toys. But to these children, it is the best gift they have ever received. As a company that seeks to make a difference in the lives of many people, CollegePlus! is always looking for new and different opportunities to invest in the lives of people of all ages. God laid on our hearts a desire to reach out and be involved in the community through many different avenues. Participating in Operation Christmas Child this year is one way we accomplished that.

packing boxes On the Ninth of October, four members of our staff and I took part in packing over two-thousand boxes full of donated and purchased items, in less than three and a half hours! We worked with Elohim Ministries who coordinated the event for Operation Christmas Child, a branch of Samaritan's Purse. It was a lot of serious fun since the different teams worked as fast as they could, in assembly line mode, to pack the many boxes needed. It was one circumstance where we could be goofy, creative, and productive all at the same time.

Several times we talked about the kids who received these boxes and some shared testimonies of how children's lives had been greatly impacted because of others gifts. I especially remember one story a lady shared with us. One of the children was given a box filled with toys, candy, and other useful things. The child took out one of the items, and handed the box to someone else; not realizing the entire box was for him. That is a stark contrast to the way today’s children act.

We can never know the impact these outreach has on thousands of children across the world, both young and old. Maybe someone will be saved because of a track or Bible that is placed in these boxes, or by someone simply showing them the Love of Christ.

CollegePlus! group volunteers This was a great experience, and our team here at CollegePlus! is looking forward to helping pack up several eighteen-wheelers full of these boxes at the regional collection center here in San Antonio next month.
