CollegePlus! Students Take On Film

San Antonio Film Festival CollegePlus! students have long attended the San Antonio International Christian Film Festival (SAICFF) but this year, they are involved in all levels.

Two CollegePlus! students are going head-to-head at the festival. Caleb Blair and Sam Klejwa, both majoring in Communications, are semi-finalists in the Young Filmmakers category of the festival. IV, Sam’s film is an allegory that starts with a young boy blindfolded in a room. Caleb takes a different direction with stop-motion effects in Grandpa’s Axiom. The two will find out who win the prize on Saturday night.

CollegePlus! students aren’t just behind the cameras. Tyler Kirkpatrick, a History major, has small roles in two films that have made the short list. Friday at Noon is a full-length feature about a man whose daughter has been kidnapped. Above All, Stand is a film short that follows a soldier in WW2.

There are multiple students who are involved this week in the Filmmaker’s Academy, learning the art of film by Stephen Kendrick and Kirk Cameron. In addition, staff from the San Antonio office with be attending the film festival.

Look for an interview with Sam Klejwa in an upcoming issue of Acceleration.
