Distance Learning College

Why Does CollegePlus! use Thomas Edison State College?

Thomas Edison State College LogoWhile there are many schools available to work with, they do not all accept the same amount of credits through transfer. Not only does Thomas Edison accept a large percentage of credits through transfer, but it is also a regionally-accredited school, which meets the highest academic accreditation available. Furthermore, CollegePlus! has elected to work with this school so that we can provide the assurance of a team devoted to keeping up to date on the changing aspects and requirements for each degree. Part of the service that CollegePlus! provides is to give the student as much confidence as possible that the credit-by-exam credits will transfer, as well as the most current details on which courses are required for a particular degree. Each degree is unique and is approached in a distinct way in keeping with the students goals.

Degree Accreditation

Since CollegePlus! is a coaching program and not a college or university, CollegePlus! cannot grant a degree and is not accredited in and of itself. However, CollegePlus! students do receive a regionally-accredited degree through Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. This is the highest level attainable for an institution of higher learning in the United States. For a listing of accrediting agencies, please visit: www.chea.org.

Should I Be Pursuing a Degree From a Big Name School?

In a recent Wall Street Journal Online article entitled "Path to the Corner Office Often Starts at a State School," leadership, talent, and a drive for success were deemed as more important than "having an undergraduate degree from a prestigious university" by the CEOs interviewed. Communication skills, leadership, and character are consistently ranked among the most important needs in business enterprises and are becoming top issues of concern to companies in their hiring process. Thus, students who excel in these areas set themselves apart from their peers and stand an excellent chance of finding employment.

Can I Get a Job After Graduating?

Because CollegePlus! degrees are fully Regionally accredited, grads confidently enter the workforce or go on to the graduate school of their choice! Students who utilize the methods of accelerated distance learning earn their bachelor’s degree years ahead of their peers. In such a case, they can either pursue internships where real life experience would be gained or pursue a master’s degree (both being highly valued commodities in the business world). In the latter case, the student would graduate with a master’s degree from the school of his choice in less time and at less cost than his counterparts would spend on their bachelor’s degrees alone.

Can I Get Into Graduate School?

Because Thomas Edison State College degrees are regionally-accredited (the highest form of accreditation) through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, their degrees are transferable to any college or university in the nation.

Enrollment In Thomas Edison For Students Who Are Under 21

At the time of enrollment in Thomas Edison (most likely 1–2 years after beginning the CollegePlus! program), the student will be instructed by his coach to write a simple letter of appeal to accompany his enrollment at Thomas Edison. This simple appeal process has proven 100% successful, and we have seen many younger students graduate through Thomas Edison.

Transferring Credits From PCC, BJU, PHC, and Other Colleges

CollegePlus! has had a number of students who have transferred out of Pensacola Christian College, Bob Jones University, Patrick Henry College and other non-regionally-accredited schools into CollegePlus!. In such cases, CollegePlus! has accepted courses that students have completed through non-regionally-accredited schools and transferred their courses through proficiency exams, such as CLEP and DANTES, that document the study already completed on an accredited level. This is the most efficient method possible to take this learning and turn it into accredited credit. Credits completed through regionally-accredited colleges will usually transfer without needing equivalent proficiency exams and many will work with CollegePlus! degree requirements.
