Business World to Academia: Reform Higher Education!

Posted on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 | Permalink |

Charles Murray has been known for decades as an education revolutionary. In a recent op-ed column in the Wall Street Journal, Murray focuses his groundbreaking practicality on higher education. In a nutshell, he wants to see the system revamped.

The CollegePlus! approach to college education parallels several of Murray's points. His complaint with higher education is that the piece of paper which a student takes into the workforce doesn't guarantee that he or she is really a good fit for the job. Murray then highlights the CPA exam as a positive means that employers can actually use to judge an applicant's ability to succeed in the accounting field.

Since CollegePlus! students primarily complete their education through credit by exam as they take a variety of tests to gain college credit, Murray's education revolution is already gaining momentum among the CollegePlus! ranks.

While Murray titled his opinion piece "For Most Students College Is a Waste of Time," nothing could be further from the truth for CollegePlus! students. Since many CollegePlus! students complete their bachelor's degrees during or shortly after high school, they haven't wasted any time in gaining valuable knowledge and thinking skills before they are ready for the workforce.

Furthermore, CollegePlus! students don't need to delay gaining hands on experience until their mid-twenties, like most college students do. By graduating at age 18 or 19, they can take time to participate in internships and discover the work they love.

Dr. Murray writes that "finding a better way should be easy." It is, Dr. Murray. It's called CollegePlus!

CollegePlus! Saves Students $21.5 Million In Tuition!

Posted on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 | Permalink |

Nearly 700 students have avoided the college trap since CollegePlus! started in 2005. In that time, we estimate that students and their families have saved more than $21.5 million in college tuition!

Nationally, college tuition is surging at double the inflation rate, according to the College Board. College students have little option but to take on massive school loans, often walking away from college $21,000 in debt, according to the Student Debt and the Class of 2006 report from the Project on Student Debt. Instead of graduating with huge amounts of debt, students in the CollegePlus! program can actually save money while completing their fully-accredited bachelor’s degrees.

CollegePlus! is working for families across America!
